Cookie policy
This page lists every cookie and every piece of browser storage this site uses, what each one does, and how to turn off the ones that are optional. It is written to be read, not to be clicked past.
What this site stores without asking
Three things are stored locally in your own browser. None of them is a cookie sent to a server, none identifies you, and none leaves your device.
- Your collection — the list of countries you have drawn, so the counter keeps working between visits.
- Your streak — the dates you last drew a country.
- Your last settings — the continent, the count, and whether territories were switched on, so the generator opens where you left it.
Clearing your browser data clears all three. There is no copy anywhere else, which also means your collection does not follow you to another device.
One real cookie is set the moment you answer the consent banner. It records your answer, so you are not asked again on every page. It lasts six months and contains nothing but your choice.
What is only stored if you agree
Until you accept, no analytics or advertising cookie is set at all. Consent is handled through Google Consent Mode, which means the scripts load in a restricted state and are only granted storage after you say yes.
Measurement
Google Analytics tells us how many people visited and which pages they read. It sets cookies beginning _ga that distinguish one browser from another. They expire after two years. We use the aggregate numbers only; we never look up an individual visitor and could not if we wanted to.
Advertising
Google AdSense pays for the hosting. With consent it may set cookies to limit how often you see the same ad and to measure whether an ad worked. Google is the data controller for those cookies, and its own description of them is at policies.google.com/technologies/cookies. Without consent, ads are served in a non-personalised mode.
Changing your mind
Declining is a real option and the site works exactly the same way: the generator, the collection counter, the quiz and every country page behave identically. Nothing is withheld and nothing is nagged.
To change an answer you already gave, clear this site’s cookies in your browser settings and reload the page — the banner will appear again. Your browser can also block third-party cookies entirely, or you can turn off ad personalisation for your Google account at myadcenter.google.com.
